amanda sager
Amanda Sager has served as President for I.A.T.S.E. Local 154 since September 2016 when she was unanimously elected into office. She also works at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival as a Sound Engineer.
Amanda was born and raised in South Louisiana, and graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.A. in Theatre Performance in 2009. In August 2010, Amanda moved to Chicago for an internship at the Goodman Theatre, and began her career as freelance sound engineer and designer. She’s had the pleasure of working in a variety of spaces from large regional houses to converted storefronts, companies included Goodman Theatre, Court Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre, American Theatre Company, Light Opera Works, 59E59, Dallas Theatre Center, and Berkeley Repertory Theatre.
In January 2014, Amanda made the move across the country to take a full-time Sound Engineer position at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. In September 2014, Amanda began her labor/union activism work serving on IATSE/OSF Organizing Committee. Two years later, June 2016, that work paid off and led to the chartering of I.A.T.S.E. Local 154. From September 2015 - September 2016, Amanda and eight other stagehands successfully negotiated a contract, created their Constitution and Bylaws, and were elected into office while maintaining the eleven show repertory theatre schedule. In addition to serving as President of the Local, Amanda is also the Chair of the Southern Oregon Central Labor Chapter under the Oregon AFL-CIO.
